And Leicester……..

What a load of rubbish, but a lovely finish !!!!!

I was standing outside The Hind, near Leicester station, at 11.55 waiting for it to open, and thinking about the day ahead. Surely the only way LCFC could get anywhere near us was by out-battling us ? Surely Pleat wouldn’t play Gus ahead of Dalmat or Ricketts again ? Well, we’d see. Left The Hind and went to some other boozer where OB had put the people from the trains, had a few beers and off to the ground.

First thoughts on the new ground ? “Fuck me, I’m at St Marys” It was apparently built using the same plans, and somehow I ended up standing where I was for the SCBC cup game last season – Right next to the home fans – Lovely.

Somehow Pleat again convinced himself that Gus had more to offer than Dalmat. How he works that one out is beyond me. At least Ricketts was playing, but Gus and Shaggy is a combination that can’t work. We can carry one, but not both.

The actual game was dire. We were outfought for everything, didn’t pick up any loose ball and then Kasey made a total bollocks of a pathetic ‘shot’ from a Scummer to put us 1 down. Halftime came and no one could believe it when Gus reappeared for the 2nd half, with Ricketts coming off for Dalmat. Ricketts wasn’t his usual self, but he should have stayed on instead of Poyet. If Hoddle had made that decision (and indeed the one to start with Gus & Shaggy) he would have been caned, but the caretaker gets away with it. Eventually, Poyet went off for Mabizela, and Konch for Bobby Z, and we started to liven up a little bit, with Dalmat taking the leading role, making some good runs and bringing others into the game.

And then it happened, Long ball forward from Shaggy, Bobby slipped in the box but managed to get the ball back to Mabizela and BANG, Walker is laying on the deck and the Spurs fans are going mad – What a goal. I don’t think however, I made any friends with the Leicester crowd, Standing right next to them on 2 seats, screaming at them. I saw one old boy telling the Stewards to throw me out, and 2 muppets thrown out – I love it !!!!!!

At this stage, I would have gone home with a point, counting my blessings but Dalmat and Fredi had another idea. A great run from Dalmat, starting around the halfway line, jumping over tackles saw him through on goal and he tried to bend the ball around Walker, but he hit the post and up pops Kanoute with a cool finish to slot home – Cue manic scenes from the travelling support !!!

That all happened in the 90th minute, but we still had time for the horrible little Chelsea reject prick who is Izzet to stamp on Fredi’s ankle like he was trying to crush a Coke can. The dirty little bastard was never gonna get the ball, and wasn’t even looking at it. He got away with a booking, but surely the FA must do something ? That was a fucking assault. Whether the FA do something or not, rest assured Muzzy, come the revolution, you will be one of the first fuckers against the wall, and we’ll see you in February – If you don’t shit out, that is. So now we have lost Fredi for some time. Step forward Helder & Bobby – Your club needs you.

To be honest, this performance was on Par with Man City, we just got the breaks near the end. We deserved a point maybe, but never deserved all 3. Crap performance.

19th October 2003.

Review of last 4 matches – Saints, City and the Blue Scousers.

Mixed bag really, the bad (SCBC) the Ugly (City) and the Good (Everton) – Also Cov in the Cup.

SCBC (South Coast Big Club) (Home)

God this was awful, and rightly or wrongly cost Glenn and Gormless their jobs. Ultimately it was the right decision, but I still think Glenn should have gone in the summer or had another month. Anyway, the fact is that we were turned over by a decent outfit, who know how to take their chances, but getting beaten by these pricks (SCBC are moving up my hate list rapidly) is not good enough for Spurs. Let’s hope the new manager can sort it out.

Coventry (Away)

Pleat’s first game as caretaker couldn’t really have been much easier could it ? Good night out for the fans too, not a bad drive up to the Midlands,  decent away friendly pub, large allocation, loads of singing, 3 goals and a quick exit to the M6 – Delightful.

Keane and Fredi looking like they’re getting an understanding going, fantastic ball for Fredi’s goal from RK. A nice (if slightly fortunate) goal from Robbie, and a great solo effort from Ricketts against what has to be said, a poor Coventry team. WHAM IN THE NEXT ROUND !!!!!!!

Man City (Away)

The day started well, with a little drive up to Brum and a quick beer in Nutty’s local (it’s starting to feel like my local !!) before we set off for City. We arrived and tried to find a Spurs friendly pub whilst trying to avoid 2 certain pubs which we had been told might not be healthy for Spurs fans. Needless to say, we managed to find the 2 City pubs and not the Spurs one. Why is their new ground here ? OK, it’s a nice ground (One of the better new ones anyway) but it’s still in a shit area. Shouldn’t complain really, cos it felt safer than Maine Road !!!!

We really should be up on a Police charge for this one, for stealing a point. I thought we were every bit as bad as Vs SCBC, if not worse. We were absolutely clueless all over the pitch (apart from KK) and it was lucky for us that in Wanchope, City have a player who could not finish his breakfast – Let alone a goal scoring chance. After bringing Dalmat and Ricketts on, we looked a little better and right at the end it looked like we might even nick a winner. That really would have been funny, apart from we still had to get back to the car !!!

Home we go, delighted with our stolen point, pissed off with the M6 and gutted that my Cambelt went as we rolled back into town, costing me more than a Spurs season ticket – BOLLOCKS.

Everton (Home)

            This is more like it.

Much, much, better. Well done lads, but WHY THE HELL DIDN’T YOU DO THAT FOR HODDLE (AND US) BEFORE ?

Overpaid tossers may be the answer, who knows but 3-0 against one of the more solid teams of last year is not to be sniffed at. A ‘Goal of the season’ candidate from Fredi (with Me having £20 @ 5/1 for 1st scorer) a glancing header from Gus – Who STILL shouldn’t be starting – and a typical Keane goal wrapped up the points. Everton may have looked a little disappointing, but I thought that they only played as well as we allowed them. Outclassed and outplayed by Tottenham ? They must have been well pissed off !!!

Special mention to Prem from Malaysia, who is a regular reader (and sometimes poster) on the message board. He was over for this game, standing with us in Block 32 and he loved it. Maybe he should come over more often, if that’s how the team greet him !!!!!

 19th September 2003.

Well, here we go again.

First of all, may I just apologise for the delay in the writing of this column. It’s sometimes hard to find the time and inclination, especially when things aint going too well on the pitch. Also a big welcome to (in no particular order) :

Helder Postiga (Who apparently comes from Portugal and does not like the Scum)

Fredi Kanoute.

Mbuleo Mabizela.

Bobby Zamora.

Stephane Dalmat

Paul Konchesky.

And farewell to:

Ted – Take care mate.

Fraud – Off you trot.

Etherington – You are now where you belong son.

Alton Thelwell – Good luck mate.

The Hoddle debate – My view

If you read down this column as far as the last game of last season, you will see that I wanted Hoddle out, but things have changed a little. The club SHOULD have parted company with Glenn in the summer, but now they haven’t I don’t want him ousted – YET.

We now have a new look team, and apart from the defensive midfield problem (which I agree is a bloody big problem) he seems to have addressed most of the issues from last season. I really think we should give Glenn another 1-2 months to see if he can get this set of players gelled properly. Personally, I would like to be IN NO DOUBT AT ALL that he is not up to the job, before we out him. Besides that, I don’t see who we could get next. If Glenn don’t cut it for us in the next couple of months, then he clearly has to go, and I couldn’t argue with that. I just want to see what this new look team plays like after 10 – 12 games together, not just 5. There have been some over reactions to some of the results this year, in my opinion, and although the end of last season was awful, I’m gonna give Glenn a little more time.

Can someone please remind me of that statement when I am demanding that Glenn goes after a drubbing by SCBC !!!!!!!!

Right then, down to business. What’s been happening ?

Brum Away

Well, the day started well, getting up to Brum for about 10, and the early opening of Nutty’s local allowed us to get a few beers in before the stupid 12 O’clock KO. A drink with Nutty and Shaz, then off by taxi to the shithole that is St Andrews.

Well, in my opinion, we played quite well against a Brum team that are full of fight but in the end we were outdone by that cheating little shit Savage, and a ref who was looking to patch things up with Bruce and Brum. A clear foul on Ant, resulted in Savage throwing himself to the floor and getting a penalty. Absolute bollocks.

Postiga looked very lively and Ricketts looked good too. Back home, pointless but reasonably upbeat.

Leeds Home.

Looking good !!!  Plenty of pre match activity in The Park, with Jesper & Chanette, IrishDen and Oystein & co coming over. Left for the game hoping that Spurs wouldn’t send them away with a wasted journey, and they didn’t.

After a poor start when we let Smith score, we controlled the game and battered Leeds much more than the 2-1 scoreline suggests. A screamer from Treacle and a classy Kanoute finish gave us the points, but it could (and should) have been more. Postiga looks special, and Ricketts needs a drugs test – He is certainly NOT the player I saw play 4 or 5 times last season for the reserves and in friendlys.

Liverpool Away.

Night shift, up early, crap traffic, 10 ¼ hours in the car, straight back to work – Was it worth it ? YOU BET IT WAS. A good, solid performance, in which a draw was probably a fair result. We had about 15-20 mins in the first half when we totally dominated them, but unfortunately our best chance in that period fell to the feet of a 6’ 5” centre half  - Never mind Ant.

The second half saw Liverpool piling the pressure on, but the defence (especially The 3 Degrees) held firm, to send us home with a good away point.

Fulham Home

Not too good this one. Pretty poor first half, and then Anderton came on to change the game and change it he did. From 1-0 down, but not totally out of it, we were buried after Shaggy first played a crossfield ball without looking up, passing it straight to a Fulham player. Then when the whole ground could see a Fulham player behind him, somehow Dazza let the player get in front of him to score. Three-Zip, game over – Bollocks.

Chelsea Away

Didn’t really expect anything from this game, but still pissed off to lose to them. Good first 30 mins in which Kanoute scored, sparking some quality celebrations from the Tottenham following but then some defensive mistakes and some real class (Mutu) and that was it. Chelsea have some great players, but are not a good team in my opinion. I thought our boys fought well, but it wasn’t to be – YOU CAN STICK YOUR BLUE FLAG UP YOUR ARSE.

 Action, or relegation

Well ? Was it Glenn’s last game on Sunday ? It is with great sadness that I say it should be. No one wanted him to succeed more than I did, but enough is enough. We had nothing out there on Sunday – NOTHING, it was fucking shocking and I never want to see anything like that again. Season ticket books on the pitch by the dozen, fans singing (rightly) “You’re not fit to wear the shirt”, reports of ‘Spurs on Spurs’ aggro, chants of “We want Hoddle out” and the winger who can’t cross, beat a player or score telling a fan to fuck off.

Sorry, but Glenn’s got to go. I don’t mind not winning anything yet (we should be used to it) and I’m not really THAT upset about missing out on Europe (well, I am really !!) but what has finished it for me is that I CAN’T SEE WHERE WE ARE GOING. Actually, that may be a slight lie – I can see where we are going – Backwards and fucking quickly. Keano apart, we have no real pace, our midfield have not got a bollock between them, Keano is upfront on his own, Si aint what he was and we are carrying too many players that are not good enough (see Treacle/Bunje/Toda/Matty/Milo etc), or are too old (Ted, Gus).

We need 2 more forwards with REAL pace, not just in their head please, 2 mobile midfielders that can tackle and get up and down the pitch, cover for the fullbacks (although Marney can be one of these) and a proper goalie – Keep Kasey for No2. This, in my opinion, is a minimum requirement, along with giving youth a chance and a manager who knows what he is doing.

While I’m having a rant – Matty E, take some of your own advice – FUCK OFF. Who the fuck do you think you are, talking to someone who pays your wages like that ? Face it, you are a winger who can’t cross or take a player on, and that aint the best combination is it ? Bradford beckons – See ya.

It would be terrible to see a hero like Glenn leave WHL, but we must have the best interests of the club at heart. I for one don’t want to sit in the 1st division with a Spurs legend at the helm. I’m gutted, but in my opinion he has to go. Also, I want him to go before he is universally hated by Spurs fans. The bloke is a legend, and should be seen as such.

Dear Mr Levy……….

………………would you please accept the following claim for compensation. I am sure that this paltry amount will not break the bank, due to all the season ticket money, sponsorship, shirt deal and money that people spend in the shops. I would like to claim for the money I spent on a ticket, travel and various other expenses incurred on my recent trip to watch Tottenham Hotspur play Middlesbrough in an FA Premiership fixture. Prior to this fixture, myself and 1,999 other Tottenham supporters were led to believe that, in travelling to the picturesque town of Middlebrough, we would (after purchasing a ticket) be entitled to see a game of football in which Tottenham would be involved.

Mr Levy, I put it to you that Tottenham were NOT involved in this game. I obviously can’t speak for the other poor souls who attended this game, but I was somewhat disappointed with the showing that Tottenham gave. Why is this ? We had no midfield, only Robbie Keane up front, 1 pathetic wing back (and another that doesn’t care) and much as I hate to say this, it was Glenn Hoddle’s team out there, so there can be no excuses about an inherited team.

YOU, Mr Levy, need to do something about this mess our great club is in, because believe me (as I have probably seen more games than you this season) if we go out next year with the same personnel, same attitude and (I hate to say) the same manager then we are relegation fodder – FACT. Do something, and do it soon, get a new man in ASAP and give him some of the fucking money you have mugged us for since you took over.

By the way, I still want the 80 quid I spent to go and watch that crap the other day please. My E -mail address is on the top of the page. Drop me a line and I’ll send you my address. Cheque would be fine ta.

Regards,

Lynford.

Man U and other stuff

Well, I for one didn’t think we were that bad against the Mancs, although it could have been a lot worse without Kasey (aint that his job though ?) Didn’t help with Deano being forced off after ½ hour though, and Ant didn’t look as comfortable as he has done this year when he replaced him.

I would never cheer another team against Spurs, but have to say I was not as pissed off at losing as I would normally be (maybe just used to it now !!!) People CHEERING the Mancs ? What the fuck is all that about ? People clapping the Alice banded poof ? What the fuck is that about ? At least the Spice boy got some shit from the Park Lane anyway.

Scott Thyer – Welcome to White Hart Lane , the world famous home of the Spurs. This lad is 15 or 16 and joined us today after finishing his schooling in Wales. As is the way, it’s obvious that he’ll be the “New Someone”. Well Scotty is the “New Wayne Rooney”. Wanted by a host of clubs including Man City, Barcodes, Forest and Wham (who the fuck would want to go there anyway ?) he finally chose Spurs, and judging from the quote from his agent, we must have done something right “He had trials with a number of clubs as you know, but once he looked around Tottenham he knew straight away that is where he wanted to be”.  We can but hope that the lad fulfils his potential, and that when he is ready the manager, whoever that may be, has the courage to put him in. Good luck Scotty, hope to be seeing a lot of you soon mate.

Remember when Ivo came to The Lane ? Inter and AC both wanted him, Man U wanted him. The bloke was hot property, and turned out to be crap. His Norway boss is now saying that he is in good shape, and Ivo said "I was on vacation and relaxed a bit too much. I had a lot of good pizza", he continued "I weighed 84 to 85 kilos, and that's three or four too many. Now I am down to 81". Well excuse me Steff, how about an apology for the people that pay your wages EVERY week (including when you are on bloody holiday) and have to watch the shit you serve up to us. As far as I am concerned, if anyone wants him and offers us 1.5 mil, we should ditch him ASAP. He hasn’t got a professional attitude, hasn’t got a lot of talent and doesn’t seem to give a shit. If he left now, my residing memory of him would be when he walked off at Turfmoor this year after a diabolical performance, and looked like he didn’t care. Errrm, Steff, I took a ½ day off work, paid to get there, paid for a ticket and then had 5 hours in a car ahead of me before getting back and finishing my nightshift AND YOU DON’T FUCKING CARE ? If I had seen him at a service station on the way home that night, I would have rammed his “Good Pizza” right up his spotty arse.

END OF RANT – Sorry !!!!!

26th April 03

Mixed bag

Sorry, but I just aint had the heart to write anything since Bolton.

Brum was OK, with a cheeky goal from Keano and a screamer from Gus (after I had been shouting for 5 mins to get him off !!!).

Leeds is a bit of a blur to be honest. Went up on the train with Garry (Haverhillyid) and had several drinks on the way up. We then met up with Clives49, Michael Ranger and Hazzardman in the bar at Leeds station. This resulted in 5 pissed blokes getting a cab to the ground and standing below the stands for the first 15 mins as drinking seemed a better option than watching Spurs. Goals from Ted and Keano got us a draw, with (as I remember) Ant slipping back into the team as if he’d never been away. Class that boy, I tell ya.

Man city is one best forgotton, so I will.

Baggies was a top day out. Arriving at Terry Naylor’s local for opening time was perfect. More Topspurs on show than I care to remember. Several pints passed before it was that time of day. It’s the time of day when you wonder if Spurs will ruin your day out, and maybe the boozer is a better option. As it turned out, they didn’t ruin the day and actually showed a little fight to come from behind twice. Ted got one, after a “Redknapp” freekick from Keano went totally tits up, Bunje heading onto the post and Ted putting it away. Keano then rammed the Dingle reject taunts of the Baggies fans down their throats with 2 well taken goals.

25th March 03

The day after……..

What a load of shit. Outplayed and outfought by fucking Bolton. We got exactly what we deserved – Fuck all.

Who played well ? Errrm, KK saved us on a few occasions, I thought Led did ok and Si ran about a lot. Doc looked pretty solid until THAT tackle (which the ref decided was a pen, from the half way line). Even the officials caught the Tottenham disease, they were wank. We had 3 corners turned down, which were so bloody clear cut it was untrue, but I console myself in the knowledge that we wouldn’t have done anything with them anyway. The Ref seemed to be a bit of a homer too, but we should be battering shit like Bolton out of sight, bent Ref or not.

I can honestly say that I have never seen Ted play worse. Even his limited pace has deserted him, he barely got a pass to one of ours, and those poncy little flicks are getting right on my fucking tits. Bunje was his usual Bollockless (is that a word ?) self, Poyet ? Well was he playing ? – I didn’t bloody see him. I can’t be arsed to go on about the rest of em, cos they were mostly shit.

Glenn ? Well, where were the subs when we needed them ? Have we not got a midfielder in the club who can tackle ? As I have said before, our defence gets so exposed by the shit midfield that they WILL make mistakes and we WILL be punished for them. GLENN, GET US SOME BOLLOCKS PLEASE !!!!!! Every loose ball in midfield gets picked up by the opposition, never us.

On the way home(long way after a night like that), we were cheered up by hearing that Darren Ambrose is going to the Barcodes. Why would we want a talented young footballer who is Spurs for a knockdown price ? I’m glad we didn’t waste a year of Ted’s wages on him. I also hope that we don’t look at Dean Bowditch (yep, Ben’s brother) at Ipswich. After all, another Spurs fan who got the MOTM award for 20 mins in the heat (?) of the East Anglian derby aint worth considering, especially as he’s only 16. HODDLE / PLEATY – PULL YOUR FUCKING FINGERS OUT.

I’m fed up with whining now, so just for those of you that didn’t believe the Webmaster about free pies after halftime – Check this out.

Some info on Teddy and Hoddle

Oh dear, oh dear – I’m getting more worried about Spurs by the day. Living out in the Fens (as some people like to call it), I don’t get to hear a lot of Spurs gossip unless it’s from this site. However, whilst away on the South coast this week, I was playing golf with a bloke I’ve known for years. He’s an accountant and recently he had a business meeting with Jim Sheringham (Ted’s brother). The bloke said that Jim looks a bit like Ted, and sounds the spit of him. Anyway, according to JS hardly anyone on the playing staff gets on with Hoddle – He is the most unpopular bloke in the club.

Feck me, that can’t be right can it ? I wouldn’t expect the manager to be everyone’s favourite due to the nature of his job, but if he is really that unpopular then we are in big bother.

Also, JS said that Spurs have DEFINITELY not offered Ted a new deal yet, which is slightly better news in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind him getting a 1 year deal on reduced terms and a big goal bonus, but I can’t see him going for that. Whatever happens to Ted, we still need at least 2 quality forwards to come into the club in the summer, although I think the best we could hope for is 1 ‘name’ and a younger player (Bobby Z anyone ???).

============================================================================

3rd March 03

Well, here goes

A few people have been asked by Jim to write a piece or two about their beloved Tottenham. I have to say that although I realised that the site was big, it was not until I have done this, that I realised just how many files make up this monster – It’s bloody huge. All credit to the Webmaster for the time, effort and skill to piece it all together.

What worries me a little is that unlike the message board, my rantings and views will not disappear off of the bottom of the board after a day or so, but will probably come back to haunt me when I change my mind (I am merely a fickle Spurs fan after all !!!) Well, if you like it or not, my E mail address is on the top of the page – All slatings gratefully received.

Wham and Hoddle

Wham – Well what can you say ?  After driving down to Barking to get a ticket, we made our way down the district line to Tower hill and the Topspurs meet. After a few beers with the lads, we made our way back up the line to Upton Park station. As we neared the station, some Spurs on the train started singing. Bearing in mind that they were not ‘lads’, we found that somewhat stupid, and pretty bloody dangerous !! We walked up the road (pretty quietly) and into the shithole that is Upton Park – What a fucking pit. The game was a mare, anyone could have told you that Les would score but the lack of ideas and effort were shocking. Was this Turf Moor revisited ?

Ted missed a header that was easier to score, and it surprised Matty so much that he bloody missed it as it went across the face of goal. Bunje was embarrassing in the middle of the park, but taking him off for Fatcha ? Christ glenn, is that shop window time for Fatch ?  If so, could you not do it some other time ? Wham got another and then just to cheer the fans up, Glenn put Fraud on.

The man with no goals in 129 appearances got the ball and to the delight of the silly fuckers who demand that he shoots every time he gets the ball, he did. I don’t know where it ended, because I turned away. I think it was to tell Jim that Fraud was the last straw, and that I was going to leave early for the first time since ???? Let me see, should I :

1) Stay till the end, listen to everyone adoring Fraud and laughing when he misses and then get a slap from some Neanderthal prick from Hornchurch.

2) Get out of that hole ASAP, and go home to kick the cat and sulk.

This brings me to Glenn, and what I have to say really hurts. I am not sure anymore if he is the man for the job – In fact, I am starting to think that he Isn’t. Can he not see that NO ONE IN THE LEAGUE will worry about Ted & Doc up front. Can he not see that we DESPERATELY need some pace up front. Can he not see that Doc is a Centre Half (and not a great one).

Now I for one, don’t believe that ENIC are forthcoming enough with the chequebook, but until the end of the season Glenn has to cut his cloth accordingly. Why not give Matty a go up front while Keane is out ? He won’t be any worse than Doc (bless him) and his pace just might scare someone. We are so lightweight in Midfield that it is making our defence look crap. Any defence in the world would look shit if they had to defend for as long as our lot do !! We have enough Centre Halfs in the club to try Led in Defensive midfield and it is blatantly obvious that Bunje and Fraud aint up to the job, so give him a go. For the record, I think Toda is a shirt seller, and nothing else.

Whatever the level of funding from Levy and co, Glenn has made some mistakes and MUST learn from them. I desperately want him to be the man, but not as desperately as I want us to be good. The lack of spending and poor team, plus getting all of those wages off of our books in Jan leads me to believe one of 2 things:

1) ENIC are trying to do everything on the tightest of budgets, taking our money and not spending it, leaving us with the bare bones of a squad and lining their pockets. If this is the case, then Hoddle is keeping quiet, so is no better than them (I don’t want to believe that) Do ENIC see free transfers as buying players in instalments ? (weekly wages)

2) ENIC and Glenn have seen the transfer market go tits up, and are lightening the squad for an all out assault on the market, raping clubs of their best players for small fees, as we have got the money to afford them.

WE LIVE IN HOPE – COME ON YOU SPURS.
