THINGS TO SEE AND DO ON A VISIT TO WHITE HART LANE

CHECK THE TOPSPURS PLAN - every pub cafe and burger bar located within the vicinity of the ground

PUB - The Park
Best on sunny afternoons when the beer garden is the place to be. Patience is a required virtue when it comes to being served and dealing in pitchers is advised but a good venue nonetheless. Map http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?pc=N170HY

PUB - The Bricklayers Arms
Top pub and a great gallery of old programmes adorne the walls. Well worth a visit

PUB - Latinos
Popular but often crowded pub on the walk up from Bruce Grove. Has bouncers on the door and ticket in the spurs end need to be shown

PUB - The Irish Centre
Large area but lacks atmosphere and all too often long queues

CLUB/PUB - The 703 Club
The 703 club, oppisite the Bell&Hare it's a memebers club and for a fiver a season you get cheap beer and a superb atmosphere, even when we lose the place is kicking after the matches, After the Gooner game it was Electric, it was singing and dancing all the way, the regulars are real old time Spurs boys going back to the Sixties. Having been in most of the Spurs Pubs i have to say in my opinion it's the best place for a good Piss up (James Flinn).

PUB - The Bell & Hare
Next to the Corner Pin (and a convenient Hills in between to lose some dough on the Nags or Iversen for the first goal). Often gets packed and hard to get served from my experience.

PUB - The Corner Pin
Classic Spurs pub on the corner of Park Lane. Space often limited.

PUB - The Northumerland Arms
Formerly top quality Pub, gone markedly downhill since new owner has took over and one to avoid.

PUB - The Gilpins Bell
Weatherspoons about a km North of the ground. Ok if you like that sort of thing

PUB - The Crown & Anchor
About a 500 yards North of the ground. Never made it in there, always more convenient boozers nearer.

PUB - Queen Victoria and the other one! (Scotland Green)
Highly recommended boozers a few hundred yards south of the ground in Scotland Green. The former does a guiness fit for the purists (and a week night lock in) while the latter does a great range of beers inc San Miguel and Belgian beers on tap. Added amenities close by are a chinese and a cab firm. The complete post match package!

PUB - The Elbow Room/Plough and other pub at Bruce Grove
Nothing much to recommend going out of your way for but decent enough if they are on your way

PUB - The Coach and Horses
The popular pub to the North of the Ground towards Edmonton

PUB - The Olive Tree
Estate pub down Park Lane towards and not as bad as it looks from the outside.

PUB - The British Queen
On Love Lane close to WHL station, a pub favoured by many of the players in times gone by, but nothing to particularly recommend it

PUB - Rudolphs
Often Sleazy looking pub right on the corner of Bill Nicholson way. Famous heritage last updated when used to bombard Rsol & the Goon coach from the beer garden on his return in Nov 2001

PUB - The Three Compasses
This pub is very friendly, just a typical family run boozer, The staff & punters are all friendly, so friendly that the guvnor lets our supporters club kip there whenever we come over, Its still close to the Lane, but because its not on the High Road you're not queing for hours on a pint

PUB - Cockerel Bar(Whitehall Tavern)
Recently done up pub very close to the ground on Tottenham High Road, at the Paxton End. Some complaints that the new owners have lost the Tottenham identity for yet another Irish Theme bar, and apart from its proximity, not much specifically to recommend it.

PUB - The Red Lion
Half a mile South of the ground on the High Road. Not been in for donkey's years and don't look anything special

PUB/Rest - The Lock
If people want a posh-ish place to eat before / after going to WHL then 'The Lock' at Hale Wharf, Tottenham Hale (was 'Mosaica at the Lock') is pretty decent, does Sunday Lunch deals and you can walk from there along the river to the end of Park Lane if you're not one of these car-bound types. Details and not entirely flattering review at <http://www.london-eating.co.uk/7035.htm> with thanks to Jolyon for the review

PUB - Bootlaces
Favourite hang out of the Wallyboard, just up from Bricklayers on the High Road

PUB - The Antwerp Arms
Always plugged by the Evening Standard, and appears to be in a nice location if you journey takes you to and from the ground in that direction

PUB - The Bank (Pitch & Pint)
The highest number of Burberry sightings and a pub with an atmosphere if you are into that stuff

What is your pre-match Boozer or place to eat? Please mail me and I will include it in here nicolaberti at topspurs d0t com

GETTING TO WHITE HART LANE

Travel to White Hart Lane - by CAR- Travelling by car can be a nightmare with nowhere to park close to the ground and long delays in getting away after the match. The best bet is to come by train, using the car to get to the station.

North - From the M1, turn off onto the A1 at Junction 2/3. Join the A406 North Circular Road eastbound and continue for 7 miles. At the Edmonton traffic lights turn right onto the A1010 Fore Street. Continue for 1 mile and White Hart Lane is on the left.

North West - Approaching London on the M40, at Junction 1 stay on the A40 for 10 miles before turning onto the A406 North Circular Road for 13 miles until reaching the Edmonton traffic lights. Then as route for North.

West - Approaching London on the M4, turn off onto the A406 North Circular Road at Junction 1 and continue for 16 miles until reaching the Edmonton traffic lights. Then as route for North.

South - From the M3 turn off onto the M25 at Junction 2. Continue for 10 miles until you reach Junction 15 at which point turn off onto the M4. Then as route for the West.

East - From the M11 turn off onto the A406 at Junction 4 and continue for 6 miles. At the Edmonton traffic lights turn left onto the A1010 Fore Street. Continue for 1 mile and White Hart Lane is on the left.

Parking: Street parking is available mainly to the east of the ground. Some nearby schools and offices provide matchday parking between £5-£10.

RAIL SERVICES - The closest and most reliable mode to get to White Hart Lane on match days

Both British Rail lines serving the stations nearest the ground start at Liverpool Street in London. While the White Hart Lane service stops at Seven Sisters for an underground interchage, it is often very difficult to get on the already crowded trains.

The nearest stations to the ground are : -

WHITE HART LANE - a five minute walk from the station to the ground, just off the High Road.  Come out of the station, turn right and walk down White Hart Lane.  When you come to the traffic lights with the pub "the Pitch and Pint" on the left hand corner, you will be at the junction with the High Road.  Turn right and walk 500m to the ground which is on your left.  Away fans are located in the Park Lane (South) stand which is at the far end of the ground as you approach, while Spurs fans are located in the other three stands as well as the other half of the Park Lane. There are Spurs shop located on the corner of both the Paxton and Park Lane junctions with the High Road

NORTHUMBERLAND PARK - Ten minutes walk to the ground.  Located East of the stadium, come out of the station and turn left.  You will be next to "The Park" pub, which welcomes away fans. walk beyond this and cross Willoughby Lane / Shelbourne Road to come out on Park Lane.  Go straight on along Park Lane for about half a mile and you will find the ground appears on your right.  This is the Park Lane end (South Stand) where away supporters are housed.  If you carry on to the top of the ground you will come to the zombies that populate the Ticket office and further on is the Spurs MegaStore where you can buy lots of Spurs tat and keep the board happy.

UNDERGROUND/METRO SERVICES - The "choob" does not go particularly near the ground, but is the most reliable way to get to the area.

The nearest Underground station is SEVEN SISTERS and this is on the Victoria line (light blue on the Tube map).  The station is a very long walk - approx. 20 minutes and about 1.5 miles - so it is advisable to take a bus (see below) or change to British Rail at Seven Sisters and take the overground train to White Hart Lane (see above).

TOTTENHAM HALE station is also on the Victoria Line, but is some way distant from the ground.  It is possible to alight there and walk, but it would take about 20 minutes and would probably require local knowledge as the quickest route is through a park. Seven Sisters is the most straightforward alternative.

BUSES - environmentally friendly but not a good option to get to the ground on matchdays due to the congestion.

76 - from County Hall on the South Bank to Tottenham (Northumberland Park).  Can get off on Tottenham High Road and walk 5 minutes to the ground or from Northumberland Park - 10 minutes (see above). 171a -  from County Hall to Northumberland Park

123 - from Ilford to Wood Green.  You will have to get off at Bruce Grove station, which is virtually on the junction of Bruce Grove and High Road.  Then turn left along High Road and walk 10 minutes to the ground.  Alternatively, you could pick up another bus that runs along the High Road to the ground.

149 - from Liverpool Street to Ponders End.  Runs along the High Road from Seven Sisters Underground station past Bruce Grove to White Hart Lane.  The ground is accessible from about three bus stops, so don't worry if you think you have gone too far.  Best to alight when you see the new Spurs Store (you can't miss it).

243 - from Holborn Circus / Old Street (central London) to Wood Green.  You should get off at Bruce Grove and proceed as detailed above (see 123).

259 - from Kings Cross or Holborn Circus to Edmonton Green or Ponders End.  Like the 279 below, will pass the ground and comes from central London for those in town.

279 - from Holloway to Waltham Cross.  The most useful bus as it goes straight past the ground and can be used from quite a distance North and West of the ground.  If you are thinking of getting a bus from Seven Sisters, this is your best bet.  Again, passes the ground on the High Road, so look out for the Spurs shops and alight by the Sports Centre or the Library for easy access to the ground itself.

W3 - Northumberland Park to Finsbury Park.  Runs from Northumberland Park and then along the High Road for a very short distance, before turning up White Hart Lane to go to Wood Green and beyond.  Should alight just in White Hart Lane or just at the top of Northumberland Park before it turns into the High Road.

W4 - from Ferry Lane Estate to Oakthorpe Park / Chequers Way (at Palmers Green, just off the A406).  OK if you want to get nearer to the ground from Tottenham Hale, but you will have to get off at Bruce Grove and walk 10 minutes to the ground.
