27th February 2002 – Chelsea in the 6th Round – 20 years on

Who did we beat in the 6th round of the FA Cup after losing the League Cup Final before going on to win the FA Cup? None other than Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge – in the fantastic “yellow socks match”. Come on you Spurs – more of the same sunshine football that we showed in that match to blow them away again.

Some images from that match can be seen here

Sing Sing – If you know your History and are sufficiently old enough to remember, the weeks after the League cup final defeat in 1982 were full of this song

Sing Sing, wherever you may be

We lost the Milk Cup at Wembley

But we’ll be back to win the other three

and we’ll go down in history

When we chased the Championship (after the Roberts Hatrick game against League Leaders Southampton which we won 3-2 in Mid March we were 6 points behind with 7 matches in hand), we’d just done Chelsea and Eintract Frankfurt in the FA Cup & European Cup Winners Cup respectively to set up semi finals against Leicester and Barcelona. It was a classic time to be a Spurs fan!

We played something like 66 matches that season and after getting battered out of the Cup winners Cup by eventual winners Barcelona and finishing 4th in the League we went on to beat QPR in a cup final replay with a goal from Hoddle after a great run from Roberts had won a penalty.

Resident Song Master Jacob Goldberg

Sing sing wherever you may be
We scored one but we should have scored three
And we were done by the f*cking referee
But we'll be back in 2003

Excellent rework by our very own Haverhill Lynford

Sing sing until your jaw goes stiff,

We lost the Worthy cup in Cardiff,

But we'll be back to win the other one,

Back to Cardiff to beat the Scum.

and another from Melksham Jerry

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we'll be back to stuff the enemy

And we'll go down in history

The following are from Melksham Jerry one for each of our possible Cup final opponents

Newcastle

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we're going back to beat the Toon army

And we'll go down in history....

The Scum

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we're gonna stuff the goons of Scumbury

And we'll go down in history....

Everton

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we're going back to mangle the toffees

And we'll go down in history....

Middlesbrough

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we're gonna beat Maclaren's red army

And we'll go down in history....

Fulham

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we're gonna stuff Al Fayad's white army

And we'll go down in history....

WBA

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we're going back to tear up the baggies

And we'll go down in history....

Finally, what about this one for Hod, to be sung at the Lane at home matches:

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

Glenn is the Lord of the Lane say we

For he will lead the Spurs to victory

And he'll go down in history....

27th February 2002 – Cup final match report now up

Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur  - Match report

26th February 2002 – Daily Round up

Life goes on – On the evening of the game – I was more in shock than anything else that we managed to blow it but since Monday the sheer enormity of what we have let slip has really dawned on me. It was certainly not in the ENIC plan of getting Spurs back where we belong at the top & it seems such a shame that after doing Chelsea, we let ourselves down against Blackburn. Still after a bit of moaning and having to endure piss takes from other supporters we need to get everything back on track for 3 points against Sunderland.

The defeat has revealed some of the weaknesses within the team that we need to address as soon as we can:

For many games this season Sheringham has been excellent and when he is on form there is virtually nothing that can stop us going forward. Unfortunately, he has not been at his best in the last couple of months – some of his touches are not coming off and the extra pass when sometimes a more direct approach would be more appropriate has led to frustration. Idiot calls for Ted to be dropped should be ignored and the people that are calling for this are missing the contribution to the team that has meant that the Leicester win was the only League win without him in the team. What we need is for him to get his touch back on a regular basis from a position within the starting line up, BUT to be removed for either Iversen or Rebrov (Ferguson, Barnard or Slabber) if he is not firing during the match. Keeping him on the pitch when he is not playing well has a negative effect upon the team and this seriously needs to be addressed by the great man at the helm.

There is nothing you can do about individual errors –Ledley will perhaps never make and error judgement like that again, and while Les does have a propensity to miss more chances than he should, he has been banging the goals in on a regular basis this season so you cannot really complain (although the next time he is through on a goal keeper – f**king shoot, chip him or whatever – don’t try and go round him!).

I admit that before the final I would have put Taricco in at right wing back, but his performance was the final straw for me in terms of Davies – who I do not think we can keep out of the first team and Davies should be given an extended run in the team at right wing back until Carr is fit again and then switched to attacking midfield with Poyet’s old legs dropping to the bench. Poyet has done well at Spurs 10 goals in 29 starting appearances is better most of our strikers since the days of Jurgen and Teddy in the mid 1990’s but his overall contribution when not popping up with the goals is not enough if we want to progress up the league, and it is not as if Davies is short of goals himself and he does more for the team (and is the future). Poyet from the bench will still be a powerful asset, but again he seems to benefit from special treatment in terms of his first team place and think that the wish for Davies to get in the team will remain only a wish for the rest of this season at least.

A special mention for the unsung – Perry who had another decent match at the back coping with most things Blackburn threw at us and much to my surprise and delight, Thatcher had his best match for the club in the final. While I do not anticipate either of these to be in the 2003 championship winning side both have proved that we have decent cover at the back for the three centre back positions of King, Doherty/(Richards) & Gardner.

Sully’s form remains a worry – he did some good saves in the match and while a shot at the goalkeepers legs are difficult to stop I was disappointed both that a shot straight at the keeper and a gentle lob to the corner which he managed to get his hand on, both went in. What makes it harder to live with is that he was so good last season – extra-ordinary saves in virtually every match since the Gooner home game at the end of 2000 to the end of the season.

Ziege joins the likes of John Cameron, Tom Smith and Sandy Brown – Jinking Jimmy Dimmock, Bobby Smith, Terry Dyson, Danny Blanchflower, Jimmy Greaves, Jimmy Robertson, Frank Saul, Martin Chivers, Ralph Coates, Tommy Hutchinson, Ricky Villa, Garth Crooks, Steve Archibald, Glenn Hoddle, Clive Allen, Gary Mabbutt, Paul Stewart, Des Walker and Allan Nielsen – in scoring in a domestic Cup final for Spurs. Ziege is a fine player in the true Tottenham tradition of flair and skill and it is great to have him at Spurs.

It is galling to think that despite playing below our best we played better than we did in 1999 for that lucky Gooner bastard and yet we come off losers this time. Still I would not change a thing in terms of who we have at the club and this will be the first of many big days at Spurs in the new Hoddle era.

Reception on Saturday – another ‘Danny Thomas’ for Ledley – It is vitally important that we give all the players a great reception on the Sunderland match to show we still have faith in them and in what is trying to be achieved at the Lane. Special applause should be given to Ledley King who must be feeling bad after the mistake which led to the winning goal and we should raise the roof when his name is announced and get a good bit of the Ledley King song going early in the match to let him know he is still a hero in the same way that Danny Thomas was embraced by the crowd after the penalty miss in 1984. Together we are strong and we are only at the beginning of the Hoddle era.

Victory for the Fives – The Tottenham supporters five-a-side gave Spurs fans some early cheer as they recorded a 2-1 win over Stockport in the Worthington Fives final. Kobinna Wireko, Yiadom Yeboah, Nas Ricardson, Faisal Kasimu, and Mark Gruber beat their Stockport counterparts ahead of yesterday's Worthington Cup final. Well done lads

25th February 2002 – Glenn Hoddle 23rd Jan 2002. “It's a great achievement tonight because of Chelsea and the record, but it's no good getting to the final unless we go on and win it."

And that says it all really. Soaking wet from 2 days of non-stop rain and pissed off! We really blew it!

Everyone is absolutely gutted about not just the defeat but also the manner of defeat. We did not win because it appeared that Blackburn were hungrier to win. Sure many things did not go Spurs way – Ferdinand had a mare in front of goal, an uncharacteristic error from Ledders and Graham Poll joins Durkin in the Referee hall of Shame for missing that foul on Sheringham – but in all honesty, too many of our star players had shit games. The game was very much like the away game at Charlton where although we had plenty of chances, we played shite against an inferior team on paper.

Before I go on about us – a quick word of congratulations to Blackburn. On the back of shite run in the league which has left them 4 points adrift of safety, having Tugay, Short, Flitcroft and Neill all out of the final and even being written off by their own fans, they produced a fairytale win (in similar circumstances to Coventry in 1987) against all the odds with a tremendous performance and I don’t think any Spurs fans begrudge them their win on the day.

Our problem was not that Blackburn won it, it was that we lost it & our problem was one of motivation and application – Thatcher (who played well) for Gardner this was the same team that demolished Chelsea - no one was saying Sheringham was too old when he belted the third in against Chelsea, Poyet has popped up with 10 goals from 29 starts, Ferdinand was the competition’s leading scorer before the match! And if you are blaming motivation and application – it is ultimately the fault of the manager and senior players for not making sure.

Regular watchers of Spurs know that Sheringham has not recovered his early season form since the start of December, and his down turn in form has co-incided with our bad run. When Ted clicks, they all click, esp. Anderton – but when he is off (and he had one of his least effective matches ever) the whole pattern of play is knackered. Even though he had looked poor in a number of games leading up to the final, with his big match pedigree for England and that other club up North, I thought he would come good again in the final – but he did n’t. While much of the blame for the defeat must rest with Sheringham, we should not forget that he has done a lot for Spurs since coming back and should not be written off as a result of one match. While everyone cited Sheringham as a main under performer, it was pick another or all from 4 more – Anderton, Poyet, Taricco and of course Ferdinand.

Anderton playing well is very much linked with Sheringham and he could not lift the rest of the team when it was obvious Ted was struggling and put in a poor display. Poyet had his usual game of nothingness punctuated with goalscoring moments – but this time, as it was against Bolton Wanderers, it was a hit the post moment when he really should have scored.

Ziege had a good match on the left but we were very lopsided, as Treacle could offer no outlet going forward on the right. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we really should have started with Davies out there and from this day on Davies should be in the team with either Treacle or Poyet making way.

And then there is poor old Sir Les. If Poyet hitting the post was a carbon copy of the Bolton Wanderers miss a week ago, then Les being put through one on one was a carbon copy of the first semi at Stamford Bridge. Again he chose to try and go round the keeper, only to be foiled and along with a couple of headers that he should have scored with in either half his ability not to score at least one of the three chances has cost us.

The rest of the team did ok, without any special performances. Thatcher had his best game for Spurs and along with Perry and Ledders was pretty solid at the back. Although King not lumping the ball out Perry style has cost us their winning goal, he was excellent other than that and you cannot expect to win matches only taking one of ten chances at the other end, and while Ledley must shoulder some of the blame, it is more important that he learns from the mistake and becomes a better player rather than worrying about it.

Where do we go from here? Short term, it is going to be a shite week for us lot as we return to workplaces, pubs and schools to the abuse from fans of other teams but we still have a lot to look forward to and after a day of moaning and feeling bad. We are still in the FA Cup and are 8th in the League. We need to take all the positives from this defeat, namely that we are not good enough just to turn up and win (well not unless we are playing Bolton in the Cup at home) – and every match needs 100% effort, 100% of the time from 100% of the players – we cannot afford any passengers.

One thing we have all noticed is that Sheringham is never subbed, and Poyet is rarely subbed. This seriously needs to be reviewed, as we cannot afford to have a player on the pitch that is not playing to their full potential. Sheringham has not played a full season since the 1995/96 season as a result of his injury in his last season for us and being used in the squad rotation at Man U. If he is not performing, Hoddle must be take the option to replace him – or Poyet for that matter to try and change things. The blind spots on certain players while commendable in terms of loyalty does sometimes look to be done at the detriment of the rest of the team.

A little ditty from 1982 – which needs some re-work from our very own Jacob Goldberg – goes

Sing Sing where ever you may be

We lost the Milk Cup at Wem-ber-ley

But we’ll be back to win the other three

and we’ll go down in history

(Excellent rework by our very own Haverhill Lynford:

Sing sing until your jaw goes stiff,

We lost the Worthy cup in Cardiff,

But we'll be back to win the other one,

Back to Cardiff to beat the Scum.

and another from Melksham Jerry

Sing, sing, wherever you may be

We went to Cardiff and lost the Worthy

But we'll be back to stuff the enemy

And we'll go down in history

Losing the League cup before going on to win the FA Cup happened 20 years ago and there is no reason why with a massive kick up the arse and a good draw in the Semi’s we cannot go on and do it again. An even if we do not win the cup this time, as long as we get the winner of the Arsenal/Newcastle tie in the final, we will be into Europe which was the long term aim this season. Losing the final is a massive blow to the long term plans for the club, as European football and the restoring the profile of Spurs was the aim of this season – and everyone involved in the running of the team need to redouble their efforts and not let this happen again.

We do not need to do anything daft cos we have lost one match – Hoddle is very much the man and we will get it right in the long term. The rest of the season and the summer were always going to be a crucial time for the club – we need to invest in top quality players, no excuses this time – but the time to judge the development of Spurs will be Dec 2002 when ENIC have had 18 months in control and Hoddle hopefully has had enough time to be in an advanced stage of re-working the squad into Hoddle’s Tottenham.

One thing that did piss me off was that none of the players came over to the Spurs fans that’d remained behind to watch the presentation. A token bit of applause from the halfway line is not appropriate after going on about how great the support was against Chelsea etc. No matter where or when we are playing in the country, knowing that there will always be a hardcore of passionate and committed fans to welcome them should count for something. Yeah I know the players were disappointed, but so were we & this lack of respect appeared to piss a number of people off as we left the stadium…before they really got into Sheringham, Ferdinand’s misses etc…

In terms of a weekend it was a memorable occasion – getting to meet so many new TOPSPURS faces in the Walkabout pub both before and after the match was fantastic, and what with the biblical flood weather and cup final experience – it was everything apart from winning the bloody cup!!

22nd February 2002 – TOPSPURS CUP FINAL PREVIEW

First Final under a closed Roof? – "The Football League has confirmed that this Sunday’s Worthington Cup Final, between Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur, could be played with the Millennium Stadium’s retractable roof closed. Football League Head of Communications John Nagle said: "If it is felt to be in the best interests of the game and spectator comfort we will close the roof. However for safety reasons we cannot begin closing it once spectators have entered the stadium, therefore a decision will be made at 11.30 in the morning, if it is raining at that time or if rain is forecast we will have the roof closed." Both finalist clubs have given their consent to playing in what would be the first ever domestic cup final played indoors."

21st February 2002 – TOPSPURS CUP FINAL PREVIEW

Injury Good News Anderton :'I should be alright,' he said. 'There was a little bit of tightness and it was something to do with my sciatic nerve. But there has been a definite improvement and I think it should be okay.'

Injury Good News Bunjevcevic (who has obviously been watching a lot of Bill Maynard repeats during his recovery from injury) : "I feel good, I must say. I'm very pleased although I'm now feeling my hamstring and just about every muscle! "I'm available to play, I think, but the gaffer knows my way of recovery, how much I have trained in the last 10, 15 days. It is a tricky game because we will miss Dean Richards but I think Ledley King will be back, Ben Thatcher, Anthony Gardner - we have lots of choices. The gaffer is the man to decide. I cannot say that I could play the final after 10 weeks out but I will give my best. I want to play, of course, everyone wants to, but the gaffer will decide."

Injury Good News Gardner?: 'I was a bit tired towards the end but other than that I feel fit enough to play. If the manager wants to put me in there I am confident I can do a job. There was no reaction from the knee at all. I was turning and twisting but there was no pain. The manager knows what I can do but it would mean everything to me if I was included in the final team.'

Blackburn Good News : While they have signed Yourdie, Cole has a problem that can only be solved by Imodium and is a doubt for the final and it looks like Hakan Unsal will not get his work permit until early next week & will not be available for the final – sorted!

Final Match Programme – Despite being skinned for a fiver for the programme – it is actually a good read, and Poyet excels himself in the pen pics about the rest of the Spurs squad – it is a must read – and can be purchased from the Worthington cup final site for all fans who cannot make it to the game, and also in the Spurs shops

20th February 2002 – Daily Round Up

3 days 17 hours to go – The week drags!!!!!!!! Much of the talk today has been about Blackburn signing some Spanish bloke called Yordi and being linked with Hakan Unsal. While I’m they are perfectly within their rights to do this and good luck to them, I feel that the Football League and FA should introduce a registration system similar to the champions league for the Domestic cup competitions. The old rules of being cup tied are too limited in the global football village although their spirit needs to be maintained. Maybe the new transfer windows will sort all this out.

Good news on the injury front – Shaggy and Ledders seem ok, and Gardner and Bunje have just come thro 90 minutes of a reserve match. This is great news – Gardner being the final centre half, and Bunje and great cover on the bench. Our team should be

Sully – King, Perry, Gardner – Treacle, Sherwood, Poyet, Anderton, Ziege – Ted & Les, with Keller, Bunje, Davies, Leo and Iversen on the Bench – Sounds a strong line up and with the right motivation, good finishing and a bit of luck we should be ok!

Intertoto – We will hopefully win the final so this will be a non-issue & I am only a ‘umble a fan – but I cannot see the harm in entering the InterToto cup! Everyone knows Bordeaux did and got to the EuroVase final but even if we did not get that far in the UEFA, at least it would get us back in Europe and raise our profile etc, even if it was by the back door.

What will be the difference between playing daft pre-season friendlies like the Millwall one this year, or having the same match as part of a competition for Europe? The home legs could be kids free days to encourage new fans and we need not play the world cup stars until they are properly rested, allowing some of the young squad and fringe players a go. Clubs have to notify the Football Association by the end of this week if they want to enter.

Topspurs Men of the Day - David McKean & Ed Cummins – Poor sods, without a ticket for the final they entered a Worthington sponsored competition & after getting the required goals in the correct order – they had the heartbreak to be only runners up – and entitled to a crate of beer, but no ticket for the final. What b*stards!

Hope David and the rest of the Belfast Spurs & Ed and the rest of the Dublin Spurs enjoy the beer watching Spurs win on Sunday as some consolation.

19th February 2002 – Wangers Whinging – again!

Packet of Sweets – Monday would n’t be Monday without Wenger having a moan about something – and this week it was Vieira’s bad boy antics and the timing of the 6th round Match vs. Newcastle. The Vieira one is simple – if he was not such a dirty bastard, he would not get in trouble - no matter who he plays for but the timing of the Newcastle match is more interesting.

Firstly, we can all have a good laugh that the Caravans will not be getting out of Newcastle much before 8.30pm Sunday night and have a long journey home until the early hours. Add to this they have to play a champions league match a couple of days later we can afford ourselves a quick laugh at their misfortune!

But on another level, and although this was not the focus of Wenger’s attention (obviously no one within the game realises the reality outside their little world) – yet again the real fans who go to the games are getting pissed around for the sake of TV – & Goon or not, this really is not on. If the TV companies are so keen to have these daft kick off times, they should compensate the fans that rely on sustainable transport to get to matches. We are in this position with the Boro match & being honest outside North London and Teeside – this game has zero interest for the rest of the Country, but Sky are insisting on putting the game on at 5.35pm, either Good Friday (if you believe Sky) or Saturday (if you believe Boro)  - and you tell me how a Spurs fan who can get the train back to London after a 3pm kick off on the Saturday, can get back at 8pm or after on either day?

Just as importantly – why are we the only country in Europe that has these daft times? I can see that some early kick offs are needed for matches where there is a history of trouble between the fans – but in Italy it’s a full progamme of matches on a Sunday (teams involved in Europe on Saturday) and on TV match Sunday evening. Similar situations exist in the other major leagues in Spain and Germany – So why are we fucked about so much?

In situations like this, we must stand firm with our fellow fans from other clubs and organize our own deal from the TV companies. Even they find it embarrassing trying to sell games (& advertising) with empty seats at the Stadium. There must be some give in the relationship between the TV people and the real fans – why should people who will watch half a hour of football before going out on a Saturday night be treated with more respect than us? They will kill the golden goose if they do not address this issue – there is only so many rip offs you can take before you say fuck it.

And while we are at it – why must the old bill decide timings and crowd figures at matches? By making the Fulham – Spurs an away season ticket holder only affair for Spurs, loads of Spurs will get in the Fulham end and there is potential for lots of trouble. Not the brightest idea – so why do we have to put up with their random and often idiotic match timings (Leeds away went from a Saturday 3pm to a Sunday noon kick off cos they were worried about Fireworks! – I kid you not!)

Anyway – f**k them all – this week is about the build up to the Final – Come on you Spurs

18th February 2002 – Yellow Strip for Final – oh really!

Mellow Yellow– Had to laugh when I read the news feed to see that everyone has now picked up that we will be wearing a yellow kit for the final – as of course you all know this was reported at topspurs over a week ago – who has the best snout! We do & thanks again to him! Here is how topspurs broke the news all those days ago

10th February 2002 – TOPSPURS EXCLUSIVE: One off Yellow kit for the Final

Kit Change – Word has reached the ear of topspurs that we will be wearing a one off yellow kit for the final on Sunday week. The official reason is that the Argentinean blue clashes with their kit (even though this did not seem to matter at Ewood Park in August).

17th February 2002 – Nice n Easy

Spurs 4-0 Tranmere – Easy – if you’d have asked how you wanted the match to go beforehand it would have been pretty much like Early goal, plenty of chances another before half time. No injuries in a game of no bad fouls. 3 up on the hour and a late goal to round things off to send us on our way to the cup final in good spirits. Match Report Link

Lets hope we get a good draw in the next round and avoid Arsenal and Newcastle  - Come on you Spurs!

And what a draw – the Goons have got a trip up to the North East and we have got Chelsea at home with the crap getting each other to set up at least two winnable semis out of the three. Lets hope the TV companies put the Geordie-Goon match on at 7pm so the Caravans have a late and hopefully miserable journey back.

Chelsea will be an extremely difficult match – esp. as they will be well up for revenge after the 5-1 but the win (along with good performances in both the other two matches) mean we have nothing to fear from them and as long as we play like we did last time and keep Hasawank quiet we should be ok. It is also better to get them now at home rather than on a neutral ground later in the competition.

It is also incredible how we have got Chelsea, Bolton and Tranmere in both Cup competitions – a feat that has never before happened and we still have a chance of getting Fulham who are still in the FA Cup!

With the Final & a QF coming up, 8th in the League, a host of stars on the pitch and Hoddle in control – it is a great time to be a Tottenham Supporter. The misery of those dark days of the last few years make it all the better, and lets not forget, this is only the beginning  - COME ON YOU SPURS!

16th February 2002 – Sunday – late Team news

Tranmere Team News – The snout has revealed that Shaggy will not be starting and may not even make the bench today – but it is a precaution for next week where he is certain to be fit. King and Gardner will also be absent today, but the good news is that Ziege is a definite starter.

I hope the brilliantly named Mickey Mellon is available for them! – Although not if he runs round like an arsehole trying to injury our players before getting sent off earlier in the season.

15th February 2002 – The Cowshed Clan

Tranmere – After our 4-0 win over Bolton in the last round, we face another team we have already played in the League Cup. Spurs triumphed 4-0 at Prenton Park and the Spurs fans housed the Cowshed stand had a great night out after the Man U defeat the Saturday before.

As our record shows we have done well against them:

L.C. Cup 3          09-Oct-01            12,386                 away     win         4 - 0       Sheringham (pen), Anderton, Poyet, Rebrov

L.C. Cup 4®       29-Nov-89         22,720                 home    win         4 - 0       Allen P, Howells, Mabbutt, Stewart

L.C. Cup 3           22-Nov-89         12,386                 away     draw      2 - 2        Gasgoigne, Higgins og

F.A. Cup 3®       12-Jan-53           31,541                 home    win         9 - 1         McClellan (3), Duquemin (2), Hollis (2), Baily (2)

F.A. Cup 3           10-Jan-53           21,537                 away     draw      1 - 1         Bennett

Division 2           08-Apr-39          19,229                 home    win         3 - 1         Ward (pen), Morrison, Miller

Division 2           03-Dec-38          12,043                 away     win         2 - 0         Hall AE (2)

But as ever we will need to go out with determination to kill them off as early as we can & if we can, maybe we can rest some legs for the big one next weekend. The most important thing is seeing Ziege, Gardner, Anderton and King all back – getting through and getting no injuries – Come on you Spurs!

TICKER TAPE WELCOME - One Flew Over Seamans Head, along with TOPSPURS.COM & all the Spurs Web Sites, would like to encourage all Spurs fans to give the team a ticker tape welcome when they walk out onto the pitch at Cardiff.

It would look bloody superb if we could recreate the days of Ossie and Ricky. Well the boyz will be wearing Argentinean blue. It would certainly make Glenn and Chris smile and it won’t cost you nothing more that ripping up a Sunday paper. What more incentive do you need – COME ON YOU SPURS!

14th February 2002 – New Kit Suppliers & Injuries!

Kappa Slappa’s – It looks as though the deal with Kappa will be signed shortly, possibly by the end of the month and we will be in kappa gear for next season. I’m quite looking forward to that – all the current Kappa kits seem to have a decent design and do not mess the kit with lots of crap like Addidas (far too much blue on the shirt this season). They also have no reputation for bobbles and are on average a fiver cheaper than other kits at around £35. Whether that gets passed on to us mugs by the club is another matter. The major concern is all the fat boy beer bellies if they chose to have a tight top design!

Ant not decked – Good news from the Treatment room. Ziege is ok and should be involved on Sunday, as should Ledley despite his tonsillitis. Anderton has a decent chance of a place amongst the 16 as does Ant Gardner – who is essential to have fit at the back with Richards cup tied and Bunje a long termer.

And lastly – Topspurs T Shirts still available from the TOPSPURS SHOP.
