In light of recent comments/happenings in the world of Spurs
FC, I thought I'd take the opportunity to add some of my thoughts:
1. DEAN RICHARDS
Although not a spectacular signing I think it is a sound
acquisition to build on the current squad. Consequently having
Deano, Leds, Ant, Doc, Bunjy and Perry provides Hod with a
mouthwatering selection poser when all are fit.
What annoyed me, however, about the Deano affair was not only
Wuperts childish comments but also the vibes the media was giving
out to the general public. Just because Spurs Reps. , who were
negotiating the deal, tried to get the payment staggered over few
years, the media took great delight in saying Spurs were in
financial difficulty. True ENIC have not opened the purse strings
spectacularly (relative term in this day and age), these are not
the vibes the media should be giving to the Stock Market and the
rest of the fickle footballing world. Although I am still erring
on the side of scepticism re ENIC I think the media should stick
to facts not fiction.
2. GOAL SCORERS
It is blatantly obvious that we lack a free goal scoring striker.
Its clear that we are currently not able to tempt the likes of
Vieri, but if ENIC do not wish to splash the cash we could do no
wrong by considering someone like Kenny Miller (Glasgow Rangers
striker currently on loan to Wolves). Coming from the Midlands I
went down to see Wolves in action against Forest last night. He
was class, before he got injured. He is pacey, takes on players
and has a good shot on him and has been scoring regularly for
Wolves. Not surprisingly Dick Advocaat won't sanction a permanent
move but I'm sure an offer of 4mil (peanuts these days for a
striker) would tempt him.
3. Stevie Carr
I am one of those sickened by his constant whinging and moaning.
The fact that he is gearing himself up for Rep of Ireland, shows
his lack of commitment for the club. By playing on the greatest
stage in the world he will be putting him on the shop window.
Well Carr you may be a class player, but we don't need you if you
are not going to play your heart out for the club and we don't
want his moaning disrupting the good team spirit Hod is creating.
Carr should take an example from Deano, who clearly wanted a move
to Spurs but still gave 100% to Southampton.
Its a pity Luke Young left, however Treacle has been playing very
well.
4. Campbell
Its good alot of Spurs fans are getting over the 'ultimate act of
trachery'. Although at the time I was disappointed to see him go,
I think Leds is a better player. Campbell was a supreme athlete
but an average footballer. Leds is a very good footballer and is
growing in stature
