| Frank Brettell: March 14 1898 - 17 February 1899 | |||||||||||||||
| Spurs appointed Frank Brettell as Secretary-Manager in february 1882 although he did not take up his post until 14 March. Spurs' first ever manager, Brettell was previously the secretary-manager of Bolton Wanderers. Before he ventured into the managerial side of football he was a player with Everton and a reporter with the Liverpool Mercury. He seems to have been instrumental in bringing half the Bolton side to Spurs during his year in charge. This didn't make him overly popular in his native North-West.
